Neighborhood Watch
The Mounds View Police Department is proud to partner with Mounds View residents and Neighborhood Watch. We are focused on strengthening neighborhoods and their relationship with the MVPD through crime prevention efforts and socialization. Neighborhood Watch groups are most effective when neighbors get to know one another and learn what does and does not belong in their neighborhood. Studies have shown that neighbors committed to participating in a watch group will help improve the quality of life for themselves and their neighbors.
How to get started:
- Contact the MVPD to see if there is an existing watch group in your neighborhood to join.
- If there is not a group in your neighborhood, you can volunteer to be a block captain. Here’s what to do next:
- Recruit as many neighbors interested in the program as possible.
- Contact the MVPD to schedule a meeting with your group.
- Discuss community concerns and develop an action plan or steps to improve safety.
- Create a communication plan: decide as a group what method of communication works for your group to keep in contact with one another.
- Take action: Hold meetings and neighborhood events. National Night Out is a great way for watch groups to meet and discuss any neighborhood concerns. It also helps our officers get to know your group and discuss any concerns you may have.
